Yes HC-110 like most Ilford formulas and unlike most Kodak its a
Phenidone-hydroquinone developer. Kodak developers tend to be old fashioned
Metol-hydroquinone . Which I vastly prefer the tonality and sharpness of.
The Phenidone tends to give more shadow detail or film speed right at the
get go. So you are starting off with a pushed speed. And you can continue on
from that speed to even higher speeds as many people did.
I'd assume my old Acufine made in Chicago where I lived at the time was a
Phenidone based life form.
Diafine made by the Acufine people they didn't even want you to shoot it at
400.  400 would be a pull. And you'd get really muddy hard to print negs.
