Sometimes I hate to be that guy, but then I face up to the fact that I
*am* that guy - the guy who just can't let go of particular peeves.
It's like a burr under my saddle when people write "MAC" when talking
about Macintosh computers.
"PC" is correctly written "PC" (both letters capitalized) because it's
an acronym - each capital letter standing for a word, in this case the
words Personal Computer.
Macintosh, on the other hand, shortens to "Mac" - only the first
letter capitalized. It's not an acronym, it's a shorter version of a
single word.
The only commonly-referred-to technical thing properly written as
"MAC" (all caps) is Media Access Control, those personal physical
hardware addresses network devices have.
