That is a form of testing, Frank was doing a more rigorous A/B (with a C for reference).

I don't test stuff.  When I find that I need or want something that will fill a need, I look for well-regarded products, then buy them.

After I buy a lens, for example, I try to spend several days shooting only with that lens and the camera best suited for it.

I'm not testing, I'm getting accustomed to the characteristics of it so I'll know how to use it when the need arises.

If, after using it for some time, I find it just doesn't fit in to my "program,"  I sell or trade it for something that does.
