I had (and I still have) similar hesitations as you have, before to take my decision I was lucky because a friend was visit Barcelona and borrowed me his MM and his Noctilux V3, I’ve shoot the same pictures with my Summilux 50 V2 (an excellent lens) and with his Nocti, in both cases wide open, in my opinion the only difference is the effect of DOF (Bokeh) the rendition…. I think is identicall, please take a look:

My thoughts are close to yours, I like the smooth “imperfection” of the pre-asph lenses, I’m using in my MM the Summilux 35 pre and it works pretty well.

I have more samples of the test if you want see them

Good luck, be patient, it took to me several months find “my” MM
