Actually the EU the is largest trading partner of China and China the
second largest trading partner of the EU-not the US. (2013 figures-European
Commission)

So it also can be said that "Let us not forget as well that
a fair part of the pollution is a direct consequence of the *European*
consumer's
insatiable thirst for cheap goods...and as such can be seen as an export
from rich countries to poor ones, where life is cheap..."
