As with every such topic, you've managed to pique my interest, so I always find myself delving further. It does seem to be a pursuit which is much more popular with people from the "South" than people from the "North."

"Up here" we see a lot more of the "Rendezvous" type enactments or re enactments (if there's any difference in the terms). They present a way of life from a particular era rather than wars or battles.
