[Leica] About the Sony and the Leica M

They both are transition platforms, and if we spend our money on them we should be willing to see something more wonderful come out sooner than we want.  

In my case, I was more willing to part with $2200 to buy the Sony than to take a bath on a trade on my fairly recently acquired M9.  This way, I still have the Leica. 

As I stated elsewhere, I found the Olympus solution to live view that Leica adopted a deal breaker back when I was shooting m4/3 as a solution to Leica R lens use.   

With grandchildren, cats and flowers, I knew I could never hang onto that rig and do what I wanted. 

I also yearned for a tilting back screen.  

I wanted ISO usable up into at least 8000. 

I wanted to be able to use some of my favorite oldie character lenses again, not just the R and M, but my Nikkors, and I even have a Konica f1.2 I can play with, not to mention some of the antiques for my Edixa.  

It might be fun to do this instead of shoveling them into a box and shipping them to KEH for a hundred bucks.

Guess what?  I'm doing all that.

Mostly though, I shoot with the Sonnars that were designed for the camera, because they perform so dang good.  

I've been doing some reaching lately in the style of my work, and happily, the camera lends itself to that, I think.
