I just checked the specs of my X100S, which has a 23.6 x 15.6 mm sensor and a focal length of 23 mm. It has an f/2 lens which stops down to f/16.
Unfortunately, it is now out of my hands for warrantee repair.

Question authority and the authorities will question you.

Very few, if any, of these small sensor cameras stop down less than f8 since the loss of sharpness due to diffraction is significant and the increase in DoF unnecessary.

I was trying to photograph a small decorative waterfall, set the shutter to 1/15 to fuzz up the water, and picked the lowest ISO available: ISO 80. Then I discovered that the camera simply would not stop down below f/8, giving an impossible over exposure. Would I have bought the camera had I known this—I wonder.
