In this first photo, the man’s shadowed face has been dodged to the point of losing so much dynamic range and contrast that it looks unnatural, like he’s wearing a photographic print of his face as a mask. Can you isolate his face in PS or LR and increase the contrast? Or try to brighten his face by other techniques? Even if his face turns out darker, I think the photo would be improved.
