A quick google found several alternatives for metallic printing. Some of
my notes are at http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Metal-printing.pdf

Metalized paper and actual coated very thin sheet metal may both be
interesting. I'm not sure if anyone makes a thick (more than 0.012 inches)
that can be directly used by an inkjet printer.

I love the metallic printing paper, but what I really want is a harder,
more durable metal substrate that can take 100% carbon inks, print with a
neutral B&W tone, and go through my Epson 7800 printer. I don't think
we're there yet. But it's worth my searching periodically. Right now my
"metallic" prints are dyes on Red River Polar Pearl Metallic paper. They
do very well in the gallery, but the thick coating/lamination that would be
needed for durability, especially outside, cancels much of the metallic
magic. So, I use just a Lascaux Fixative (non-UV) spray coating.
