We had moved up there from Florida that summer. In Florida, we always celebrated with my uncle and aunt, so the turkey preparation was not our responsibility. But now we were on our own, truly, so my wife bought a frozen turkey and we were going to reproduce the delights of Gainesville. But after looking at the turkey and each other, we donated the bird to a homeless shelter and invited ourselves to Thanksgiving at my wife?s aunt in Brooklyn (every Puerto Rican has relatives in Brooklyn ;.)).
