They are not native like javelina's. In Texas and Georgia at least they are fair game for hunting with no restrictions: it would be wise to get approval from the landowner and state/ federal land might have general controls on hunting but otherwise they are hunted from helicopters, with night vision, from stands over feeders, or even out of vehicles on country roads.
