Even at 40C outside you are only looking at a temperature delta of 20 degrees or so. In cooler climates where the temperatures can go -20C triple glazing makes senses as the delta can go over 40 degrees. What you absolutely have to have in our climate is the appropriate coatings in the glass to reduce as much as possible radiant energy gain. Then obviously a well sealed house to prevent energy gain or loss from air exchange. We went completely solar two years ago so electrical needs are not a consideration a we overbuilt to accommodate the expected loss of efficiency.
