Further examination of the photo showed that this bee lacked the white facial markings of a male. Hence, it was concluded that it was a female.? Since females spend most of their lives in an underground tunnel, they have little familiarity with the pollen collection process. Hence, the awkward movements I observed as it explored the bloom.
