Some groups are feeling more freedom and are letting loose; as a new phenomenon folks are still sorting out what is helpful and what is just nihilism. Some of the anger is being taken out on "normie" art and custom but is not substituting a new vision. Hopefully this is a short period and we will begin a new more interesting phase with more balanced participation. All that said, I don't understand this in Austin. Unemployment is low with jobs available throughout the skill and income spectrum. The city is friendly to all lifestyles as can be imagined. The only real downside is the cost of housing and taxes in the desirable areas: there is a lot of anger that I can't afford to live where I want to live. Little understanding of tradeoffs with distance to work, space, amenities, and roommates/ significant other choices. Unlike Chicago the city is friendly to garage apartments or small detached rentals behind the main structure so the housing is there but possibly not like Pintrest.
