That is an interesting experiment we are running. The young and healthy
have been disproportionately affected by the layoffs. Disproportionately
missing rent payments etc. So, will they choose to vacation or catch up on
bills as they return to work. Then let's look at the other side: the rent
seekers who own the properties earning rent whether residential or
commercial. They are being hit pretty hard by missed rent payments; will
they have the cash flow to travel at any price?

Then there are the older compromised individuals; will they get on a plane
of more than themselves as passengers risking getting the virus?

Underlying assumptions would be no vaccine and only very limited
therapeutic options to limit the spread of the disease.

If we assume MMT then the government can just create money and distribute
it with no consequences as to inflation or expectations of better
lifestyle. Then we just fund accounts and people live their life. What
about the producers? If they can get an acceptable living doing nothing
will they continue to farm, ranch, manufacture? What percent of decrease
in initiative can be compensated for by overall better living by the
majority?

If we don't assume MMT then the money spent to support people will go into
the debt structure and will be financed/repaid. Then standard of living
will fall due to greater taxation and or inflation. Again, what is the
balance point between economic pain today vs long term costs defined
loosely.

Many on this list have made good/great decisions and don't have to worry
about where there next meal is coming from or losing their shelter. If we
believe the statistics in the US more than 60% of the population don't have
$500 in ready cash to spend in an emergency. The mandated shut down has
hit these people very hard even with the increased unemployment insurance
payments; then there are the hustlers with no reported income but their
income is down considerably. Will these people go out into the market and
spend like they used to? Animal spirits is a thing if you are in the
entertainment business loosely defined.

Then there is the developing world that has been largely unaffected by this
virus. Can their economic efforts be turned to the more local economies?
If so then their world gets much better as economic prospects open up as
they spend their local economy upwards and they money rotates internally
instead of externally.

It will be an interesting several years.
