He patiently explained the 'id' referred to his medical specialty of infectious diseases. As time has gone by I have had contact with adult infectious diseases specialists here and I can just imagine how difficult yet rewarding it must have been for him treating pediatric patients. I'll add this photo of my 8 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel 'Draco' sticking out his tongue.
