I agree with not trusting my files to the cloud. They are fluffy and subject
to quick variations of atmospheric pressure and humidity.
I'd use them for back up though.
I like them right where next to my router on my literal desktop.
I'm getting two new ones this last week of the year to replace them with.
They will become backups.
The new ones may be solid state and or Thunderbird. I do have some money
saved up to get something a bit over average.
Then when I hit "flowers" all the flowers I ever took since I started
shooting digital a dozen or so years ago pop up in a second.
Or any other category I ever thought of an key worded.

I use Bridge and Photoshop.

Mark, I believe automatic tagging refers to the weaker version now
called (again) Lightroom.

My desktop version is LR Classic (formerly LR Classic CC) and keywording
is manual, as in the good old times.

OTT : I wouldn?t trust Adobe to hold my files for fear the jerrymandered
the perimeters of their subscriptions and I lost the files to them for good.

Abode?s constant change of labelling of their products is also a
(deliberate?) constant source of confusion.

Watch twice before you subscribe. I had to change my subscription as
soon as I discovered the flaws of LR CC now called plain vanilla LR.

devices they came from. They?ll no longer be backed up to the cloud or
synced across your devices, and they won?t be automatically tagged for easy
keyword search within Lightroom. The photos you have already backed up to
the cloud will still be accessible on all your devices.
