I guess that is the difference in the way we see, and I may be wrong so forgive me if I am before I get into a flame war. You, I would suggest, see a colourful carousel against a blue sky, but the image has been downgraded by the absence of colour. I, however, see a family playing with interaction between them and the ride operators. I see eye lines of sight and connections between people. This, for me, would have been lost in a myriad of gaudy fairground colours. But, as you say, if you only have b&w that is what you get at the end of the day.
