The precision engineered and exquisitely finished Grand Seiko are even better than Rolex in quality, but at a lower price point, but will you pay $5000 or more for a Seiko? We really should stop confusing quality with price - the latter is all due to branding. Leica is just indulging in brand extensions at a price which they feel that the brand can bear - a sensible business approach that is definitely worth a try. I expect them to expand the offerings if they feel that the experiment is a success.
