The problem is that the M5 shoe is even further off axis, to the right with the camera in shooting position, than the shoe is on the other Ms. This means that even with the intentionally off-center finder mounts, the finder sits well to the right of the center of the lens mount. Put your camera on a tripod in a position that is replicable. Shoot your frame(s). Develop then compare what the frame shows versus the finder, use judicious amounts of tape tape to mask the finder until it matches. Whether you use a physician prescribed black tape is up to you.
