In many cases technology is permitted if it helps a farmer earn a living, so the headset would qualify at this auction. It's not uncommon to see Amish kids with smartphones (which they surrender upon entering the sect as adults), as well as computers in a special shed outside of the farmhouse. The computers and high speed internet are essential for sourcing materials, since catalogs have largely disappeared, and for communicating with customers who only send emails rather than talk on the phone. The issues of pragmatism vs dogma have been a long-time tussle among the Amish. Around 1927 there was a schism over automobiles, where one group permitted modest automobiles (black paint, black bumpers) and another group stuck with buggies. While the buggies are quaint, they are huge road hazards, and it's common for regular fatalities when cars collide with buggies. -----Original Message----- From: LUG <lug-bounces+jshulman=judgecrater.com at leica-users.org> On Behalf Of Douglas Barry Sent: Thursday, March 15, 2018 8:10 AM To: Leica Users Group <lug at leica-users.org> Subject: Re: [Leica] PESO 03 14 18 On 15/03/2018 03:20, Jim Shulman wrote: > http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/focusit/bear+auction+sm.jpg.html > M3, Summilux 50, Tri-X Intriguing, Jim, but I thought this religious group were not permitted to be wired for sound, but you were there to bear witness....
