For the record, I appreciate Leica standing behind their product and addressing the sensor issues. I also can appreciate positively the demand to ship the defective camera by middle of last year of forfeit the offer of repair as a sound decision to understand the full scope of the problem. However, I have been without my M9 since June of last year with only the barest acknowledgement that it is at Leica USA. I also sent them a Tri-Elmar with a useless aperture ring(the design of the lens had three very small screws tapped into 22 gauge aluminum with insufficient strength to hold). The lens is sitting on a shelf somewhere at Leica and I will probably be treated like Doug and receive it back unrepaired. I bought the lens new and used it maybe 10 times when it failed. Now, I have had a nice life. I did break open some 20 year old very fine Scotch that I laid up 20 years ago. I have happily transitioned to another brand of camera and discovered a wonderful world available in the mirrorless universe. I am rebuilding a house in Austin TX to my taste as we transition from a corporate town to a college town that pulses with joy. What I haven't done is purchase any new Leica gear and won't consider until I get my gear back. All the best.
