Ken, I would not worry unduly about this type of theft. Plain pick-pocketing 
and break-ins into parked rental cars are more of a danger in Barcelona, so 
be on the lookout for that?but do not let fear ruin your trip. Any place you 
will visit in Spain is safer than any US city of similar size.
