The shining point of an SSD is that it operates your *programs* with terrific speed, not to mention a lightning fast boot-up. I have SSD's as my boot drives, and loaded Windows, my Adobe programs; LR, PS, Acrobat, and Microsoft Office there. That array is small enough to fit on a 250 gig ssd with lots of room to spare. Then I have a one TB drive in as my data drive, and I now use Dropbox for current picture files, and am able to retrieve them from any of my 3 computers, my ipad or my iPhone. Image access into PS from my Dropbox is nearly as fast as from my hard drive, at least fast enough for me, and I always have a need for speed.
