When I find a bloom this nice with no browning, I capture it as best I can. Shooting white flowers at midday means shooting in the shade, and magnolias with their big leaves have lots of openings to the sky. Another problem encountered with Magnolias (in these parts) is that the trees are trimmed so you can mow beneath them often putting the perfect flower out of reach. To compensate, I subdued the whites in camera raw filter, then burned them in some, cropping out most blobs on the left and letting the ones on the right balance the negative space. Anyhow, here's one from files without the blobs for you! http://www.sonc.com/magnolia.htm ;-) SonC On Fri, May 12, 2017 at 9:13 AM, Tina Manley <tmanley at gmail.com> wrote: > The magnolia itself is magnificent with beautiful light but I find the > white OOF blobs in the background distracting. > > Tina > > On Fri, May 12, 2017 at 5:16 AM, Sonny Carter <sonc.hegr at gmail.com> > wrote: > > > When it starts warming up in Natchitoches the magnolias bloom, and we > have > > hundreds of trees.
