While those wheels are faster and save you time, controlling them at high speed, if you're caught in a strong side wind, is very fraught. http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/successful-back-surgery-for-theuns/ In the same windy stage, Julian Alaphilippe gave a demonstration of uncontrolled flying which was caught quite well in this picture. http://wwos.nine.com.au/2016/07/16/11/31/rider-crashes-out-in-strong-winds The amazing thing is Alaphilippe gathered himself up again, finished the stage, and is still in the race.
