Ah yes, here in the westernmost outpost of the EU, we can't believe the mess. The Brits don't seem to know what has hit them. There's a lot of brave talking from Brexiteers and a puffed up Farage, but, in truth, the elderly Brexit voters (Irish translation - feckin' eejits) with their empire manqu? still thought they counted for something in the world, and, if they do a crap, the world has to wipe their posterior. To their surprise, foreign businesses are bringing in contingency plans immediately and are moving thousands of workers out of Britain. Bewildered voters saying on tv they didn't realise all this would happen. Universal suffrage is all very fine, but sometimes it gives universal suffering. On the bright side, second hand M9s might be worth throwing a few stronger euros after. I hear Brussels is crowded with reporters, and even my lowly son has been told not to talk to them. Apparently, there are people crying in the corridors of Brussels, and everyone British there is scared, angry, and sad as they feel their life's work has been pointless. It hasn't been, of course, as we haven't had a European war since 1945. However, from now on, all bets are off. Farage is probably being measured for jackboots. Now, a "pioneering" Britain will be the very first country to leave the Union and the ripple effect in the United Kingdom will see Scotland, and maybe even Wales decide they don't need their own union with the UK, not to mention Sinn Fein's Gerry Adams this morning lifting the current lid that helps to suppress the simmering disquiet in Northern Ireland. He wants a refenendum to join up with us here in the Republic, as Northern Ireland voted Remain. Mind you, we're not sure we want them :-) As for the rest of a perplexed and extremely pissed off EU watching naughty boy Britain slinking off on its own, and hearing the UK being told by the Brexit chorus to expect immediate trade deals, I have to say the EU consists of humans, and, unfortunately, humans exact consequences, as history has always shown. Revenge is a dish best eaten cold. Not that I'm vindictive :-) Now, secondhand M9s.... Douglas
