The aftermarket batteries I've had available were all of different mAh than
Leica, and the shells appeared to be colored slightly differently.

A couple times I accidentally dropped each type, and found cracked cases on
the third party ones.

The reaal test, of course is how they hold a charge. As you know, I'm
largely not shooting my M9 anymore, but I always come back and look and
find plenty charge on the battery, even after weeks of not shooting.

The aftermarket ones tended to discharge in a few days of non use. Some
would not even charge on the new M9 charger.

Nathan, you may have better luck than I did, but I really tried over
several years with M8 and M9, and I could not rely on them.

I have three Leica batteries and they all hold a charge. and two are in
excess of four years old.
