My info more had to do with taking a Nikon body and converting it.
But, my understanding is that there is a sandwich of material that makes up
what we call the cover plate.
A flat piece of coated glass
The micro lens array ( plastic? Glass?)
And maybe something else
I do not think I would want to mod my M9 either. Buy a cheap Nikon D200 and
work on that.
