The present policy of the government here in the UK is a ?No ifs, no buts? policy which has no room whatsoever for human error and interaction. Just this week I met a woman whose received a telephone call to tell her that her father was dying, she must come immediately to the hospital to be with him. Because this made her miss an appointment with the benefits agency they stopped her benefits 100% for six weeks. There is no compassion at all.
