Of course the new one is better, in the way that the M240 is better than the 
M9, but the original Monochrom is very usable at 5000ISO and OK up to 10,000

Supposedly that's the reason they used the M240 CMOS sensor in the new MM 
instead of the M9 CCD that is in the older one.
