It's a perfect example of just how major the shaking was. Of course the screaming terrified people of the subway station ran for their lives at such a speed only sqiggly lines kind of indicate where they were standing. However not all, as it appears a couple shaking so badly in the foreground couldn't escape the massive ground trembling. I do think however under these terrifying moments during the time David had the opportunity to catch this quite interesting squiggle effect it works most effectively!!
