Lightroom is way way way faster for rendering previews. On my old system I had to switch to Photomechanic for initial edits because of that very reason. 2. see above 3. Haven't used a 27 iMac. Would be easy enough to take a drive in to an apple store and test it there. Don't know if you have met your local mac store business rep, do meet them if you haven't. You get some good attention out of the relationship. Assuming that you have a good monitor already, it would seem silly to me to spend 4 k on a iMac instead of 5 k on a tower. 4. Haven't used any firewire drives on it yet, I wouldn't anticipate any problems....but then you never really know. Once again, take it into your mac store and test it if it's a deal breaker. 5. I use my old MacPro for my dvd drive. I have them networked together via an ethernet cable. 6. It looks exactly like a small trash can. I put mine on my desk behind the monitor (27" Mac LED).
