For editorial photos, you will definitely not need a release. For commercial use, you will need a release for any photos made from private property. There is a wide range of permissions in-between those uses. I would think that for what you are proposing, you would not need a release. If any of your photos attract the attention of an advertiser and they want commercial use, that would be a different matter. You should not have to have one for public right of way, but I would get one anyway, just to be safe - for commercial use!! For editorial use, the only time you would need a release is if you implied something derogatory about the property - such as it is a drug scene - or any other pejorative description that you cannot prove. Otherwise, go with it.
