I was just a teenage fan back then but there are a lot of faces in the film I went on to work with and remember with fondness, particularly Keith Duckworth who was a great help to me encouraging my early efforts and went on to be a close friend. Mind you our telephone calls were rarely less than 2 hours. If Keith called your mobile the first thing you did was search for the charger and plug it in... I think the ?100,000 Walter Hayes of Ford UK marketing spent to sponsor the build of the Cosworth DFV was probably the best value sponsorship deal ever done in motorsport! Keith himself drew every single drawing of the original engine, did every calculation and ran the development programme. Doesn't happen like that nowadays... Incidentally the broken timing gear in Graham Hill's car turned out to be due to a resonance in the valve train which required some ground breaking work to resolve.?
