Quite surprised as to how much the Snow Geese and the Ross's Goose look alike. our Bird bath/watering station are both solid ice right now. Had blizzard conditions last night and the temps today are -6 F as the high with -33 F wind chill. I think the birds are staying in their shelters to keep warm. ;) Gene ----- Original Message ----- From: "Doug Herr" <wildlightphoto at earthlink.net> To: lug at leica-users.org Sent: Monday, January 27, 2014 9:28:29 AM GMT -06:00 US/Canada Central Subject: [Leica] IMG: Weekend birds My weekend started early on Friday when I visited a wildlife refuge in the northern part of California's central valley, where I found White-faced Ibis: http://www.wildlightphoto.com/birds/threskiornithidae/wfibis06.html http://www.wildlightphoto.com/birds/threskiornithidae/wfibis07.html http://www.wildlightphoto.com/birds/threskiornithidae/wfibis08.html a cooperative male Gadwall: http://www.wildlightphoto.com/birds/anatidae/gadwal10.html numerous Snow Geese: http://www.wildlightphoto.com/birds/anatidae/sngoos08.html http://www.wildlightphoto.com/birds/anatidae/sngoos09.html http://www.wildlightphoto.com/birds/anatidae/sngoos10.html http://www.wildlightphoto.com/birds/anatidae/sngoos11.html and the smaller Ross's Goose: http://www.wildlightphoto.com/birds/anatidae/rogoos03.html http://www.wildlightphoto.com/birds/anatidae/rogoos04.html All refuge photos: R8/DMR, 280mm f/4 APO-Telyt-R, 1.4x APO-Extender-R. A goose was Photoshopically removed from the second Ibis photo. AP can fire me but they'd have to hire me first. I've also set up a bird feeding, bathing and watering area in my yard which produced the desired results: http://www.wildlightphoto.com/birds/turdidae/weblue13.html http://www.wildlightphoto.com/birds/mimidae/nomock04.html http://www.wildlightphoto.com/birds/emberizidae/wcspar13.html Yard photos: R8/DMR, 280mm f/4 APO-Telyt-R, tripod & blind.
