Those Moral Monday photos by Ric were brilliant and an inspiration to keep
trying. I have an f/1 Noctilux that I practice and practice with for
portraits / family on my M8 but still am not very good at at f/1, but it is
good for outdoors / landscapes / Scottish sunrises. I was very interested
to read from someone here that the live sensor view helped exposure more
than focus. Some years ago my baby nephew tipped the camera and lens a
short distance off a sofa onto a carpet, but to be honest I don't think the
focus is any worse than before, and I read here of M8s surviving worse
impacts. When the rangefinder (via magnifier) is lined up on a person (or
dog) about 2m away, the subject is not in focus, and I try jiggling it
forwards and backwards a bit but rarely get it right. (I have read about
back focus) I guess it would be very expensive to send them away for
adjustment, and then would they not be right for landscape distances, or
other lenses? Here's an example from 2 Christmasses ago that I would like
to do better at. Does anyone have any advice please?

This NOCTILUX babblefest has been most interesting simply because when I
read all the reasons, comparisons for buying and what appears a smashing
lens, apertures etc it boggles my mind!
Lets see?
I bought my first LEICA because everytime I read about the seemingly "greats
of photographic world! they used LEICA?"

ERGO? As time moved along and I found working with three M cameras and three
R cameras of whatever models and lenses, I replaced them with the new
versions!

Along came the NOCTILUX! :-) WOWIEEEEEEEEEEE! HOT DAMN f 1.0! Gotta have
that! WHY? Well hell if yer a LEICA SHOOTER you've got to have the best of
the fastest best!

Now don't get all yer pants on fire quite simply nobody in their right mind
all those years ago ever went through all the gobbely gook many of you guys
do! Testing and all that time wasting time? CRAP? WHY?

Well hell we just went out, shot the assignments we were being paid for and
came home with drop dead LEICA QUALITY PHOTOGRAPHS! Dang so simple, logical
and most effective!

TODAY????????????????????

Must have been my last look on the screen about 20 posts proving absolutely
nothing whatsoever about the? READY?

THE QUALITY OF THE CONTENT????????????

ONCE AGAIN POINTING OUT HOW MANY ARE MORE CONCERNED ABOUT THE TIDILY BITS
INSTEAD OF THE magnificent bits??????" THE CONTENT OF THE IMAGE!

So big deal some of you get all piddly-assed whether 1.0 or .95 or what ever
the hell it is???? What 99.9% of you not making your living from photography
miss? ..... The folks paying yer bill do not give a flying hoop whether you
use whatever lens you shoot with....... BUT THEY SURE AS HELL ARE CONCERNED
WITH THE 'content of your images!" There's a message right there! Read it
again!

Save yer breath folks and spend more time capturing beautiful images than
all this babblyfest meaningless garbage about whatever Noctilux yer babbling
about!?

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND MANY MANY MORE YEARS! :-) :-)

cheers,
Dr. ted
