The sun shines on your camera as you make the shot and roll to the next frame. But not always so its not every shot. Its the back. At least you only have one back and do not have to figure out which back is the culprit. That's real fun, A second back makes such a camera way more fun though. You can have slow film in one for the sunny 16 shots or tripod shots and fast for in the shade or indoors. or I hate to say it too loud: color! For when you are in front of a magenta Rambler American and it feels silly to shoot the thing in monochrome as the whole point of the thing is the color. The other reason for another back to super enable your 645 is when the end of the roll comes and things are moving fast you just change backs and you're back shooting in 20 seconds. This is a main reason many photogs shoot medium format events instead of 35. It was for me.
