For prospective eagle watchers on the US East Coast, Iona Island, in the Hudson River, about 50 miles north of New York City, has been designated a breeding ground for bald eagles. There are good elevated viewing points where eagles can be seen sweeping down to the water to catch some unfortunate fish in their claws.
