It's not copyright, it's trademark.  That one has been debated many times
but it is trademarked.  You can photograph it  but not sell the image for
any use. You do have to have a permit to do commercial shoots in any
national park.  That usually applies to shoots involving lighting and
models and tripods - anything that would disturb other visitors to the
park.  If you are alone and not using lights or tripods, you will be fine.
