Tina, I convert to B&W (usually) if any one of these conditions are present: - The photograph is quite monochromatic to start with (Cleaning and Morning News, for example) - If there is too much colour that distracts from the main subject (Street Scene, for example) - if there is excessive colour noise - if it is a portrait that where I cannot get the skin colour right due to some goof up! I prefer colour in the main, except for portraits, and that too not always.
