I do not follow you, why should it be either/or rather than pick and mix?
Using the same app (eg PS or LR) there is minimal difference between Mac and
PC, likewise once you get under the surface. There is nothing on a Mac which
is that different to Windows in normal use, I have regarded Win7 and 8 as
copying a lot of Mac features ;-)

How do you think a Mac would control you?

However there are some things that only run on Windows, or you may prefer on
Windows (I prefer Windows Outlook 2010 to Mac Outlook 2011) and a VM is
perfectly adequate for that. My Win8 VM sits on its own SSD with 4 CPUS and
5GB RAM so can hardly be regarded as a slouch (I also have some management
software which is Windows only). VMware Fusion allows seamless working
between them, a URL in Windows opens up in Mac browser, app windows layer
between each other, shared working directories etc.

I make my money out of Microsoft but choose to spend it on Mac ;-)

But why would you buy a Mac to run Windows software? Does that make sense?
I know the two are getting closer together all the time but there is still
a fundamental difference the actual involvement of the user with the
program. I don't want to let the machine control me. I want to control
the machine. That has been the difference I've seen between Mac and PC.
Besides, Bill Gates has totally redeemed himself with his charitable works
all over the world. I'm not sure what Jobs ever did for the world?
