We have an Indian place across from our office, and it's pretty good. I have no idea what I'm getting, but fortunately it is a buffet so I can sort of figure it out. Also fortunately I like spicy food. In fact, our local Whole Foods has a hot line for Indian food, which is what I brought home for dinner later on. Carrots and a vege dish - it looks like a white wine match for sure. About 1980 I lived in Baltimore. On Greenmount Ave., which was in the process of transforming itself from a lower middle class white enclave to a more modern urban ethnic mix, a traditional American restaurant was purchased by an Indian (as in sub-continent India) guy. He realized that he would have to keep the American menu for breakfast and lunch, but at 5PM switched to an Indian menu. The lights dimmed, and the sitar music came on. However, the Hons were still waiting on the customers. My old dorm roomie and I decided to try Indian food, and came in one evening. The Hon came over, dejectedly handed us a pair of menus, and walked away. When she came back to take our order, we asked for a recommendation, since we'd never been to an Indian restaurant before. Hon replied, "Honestly, Hon, I wouldn't eat this shit if you paid me." And that, friends, is Baltimore at its finest.
