This is intended in theory to increase performance further by writing portions of each file to each drive (treating them as one big drive) I don't know the actual practical performance increase of using these very fast drives that way, but setup as I understand that Mehrdad has reccommended triples the likelihood of a failure in which case all of the information would be lost including your boot drive (Windows and everything else) and possibly negates the point of having the scratches files on separate drives for performance in the first place. I'll bow out on list on this. *Breathe in, breathe out, move on* -- Jimmy Buffett Cheers Geoff http://www.pbase.com/hoppyman On 10 June 2013 00:24, mehrdad <msadat at gmail.com> wrote: > Tina, couple of comments on your setup, > one i would wait till the new intel cpu are shipped in systems by dell or > others. u can buy the cpu @ newegg right now > the ssd, i would get all of them the same size 250, and then use striping > to create a 750 gig drive for the combo work of os,scratch and projects. > for one thing you have a bigger space to work with and second raid 0 > (striping) gives much much more read/write performance. as data is > read/written across three disk > > ------------------------------------- > regards, mehrdad > > > > > > > _______________________________________________ > Leica Users Group. > See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information >
