I'd describe it as "sparse" or "spare". Coming from NW Ohio/SE Michigan, this sparse rural landscape is commonplace, and the sentiment is very commonplace as well. It captures the unintended irony of religion/nationalism endemic to our region. This image for me is a great portrait of rural midwestern US culture. Thanks for showing this, Chris!
