It might have fooled a less sharper set than the Lug, and indeed I'll do a better variant and keep it in reserve for one of my camera club's competitions! The typewriter is a Royal Portable made in Hartford, Connecticut and seems to have been made in 1926 going on its "Directions for its USE and CARE" Yes, not a manual - note :-) That said, in those days, they didn't alter manuals just to keep up with the times.
