Leica are fixing and cleaning mine for 'free', but the catch is they give not warranty (which is fair I think). They were keen to fix it if they could, and I don't imagine it really suits them to have to turn away so many electronic problems, but that's the modern world. My R9 was (like your R8) not so 'lucky' and will cost a bit to repair, but like you its being done. The 12 month warranty is better than any we get here on repaired gear of any sort --read washing machines etc, so I'm not unhappy there either. It will be a pleasure to use them again. Cheers Alastair
