No, I restrained myself re the matching Safari 50 mm Summilux, although it would be nice to have! :-) It's not difficult for me to justify spending a few hundred dollars for a camera like the R3, but when the price of any photo gear rises above $1,000 I really think twice about the purchase. It's just my own personal threshold. Others may have thresholds much higher or lower. I do have a black 50 mm Summicron-R ROM which is a very nice lens. I used it on a Canon 5D for one of my images in the 2012 LUG Yearbook (the Douglas DC-6). If I was going to buy a 50 mm Summilux, it would almost certainly be a standard black version. OTT: Unless you use a TTL flash on the R8 or intend to shoot over 1/1000 the R3 will produce the same pictures, so your money is definitely not lost. I sold my R8 before the R3MOT. I now only keep an R4, out of laziness or nostalgia? This I can't tell. Happy shooting. Philippe
