A lot like a pick-up truck here in the states. They're everywhere and used
by many people as their primary mode of transportation. During my teaching
and graduate school days, that was the only vehicle I owned. Did I haul much
of anything? No....

Doug, your lifestyle both the horses and wildlife photography make a
go-anywhere vehicle a reasonable choice.
Having a Range Rover to take the kids to an urban school is not.
I was brought up on a farm, and we had a Land Rover, which I learned to
drive in. Back then nobody who didn't need one bought such a vehicle.
I hated the Land Rover as an on-road vehicle, and still do.
I have no need for such a SUV, and still find them disconcertingly unstable
on the occasions I have to drive one.
I most of them are fashion accessories rather than needed!
My brother uses one, but he is on the farm most days so, like in your case,
it makes sense.

have the time to go rent a truck powerful enough to haul a horse trailer, if
I could find one to rent with the proper trailer hookups.? Doesn't happen
every day but has happened more than once.? Or perhaps Nathan is correct, I
only have the truck because fuel is too cheap.
